How We Can Help

Below is a peek at some techniques and tools that can utilized during any one of your sessions with Pelvic Harmony. Some women will benefit from only a few of the techniques while other women may benefit from all of them. You are always able to decline an intervention if you aren't comfortable with it. Some people opt out of the dry needling because they don't like needles and that is okay, we just find a different way to get the job done! Thankfully, there are many different tools we can utilize to achieve results. Check out how we can help below!

In Home Sessions

Pelvic floor therapy brought to the comfort of your own home without the hassle of having to commute. This is especially nice for early postpartum mamas.

Exercise Progression

Exercises will be prescribed based on your presentation and activity level. They will be progressed individually based on your response.

Cupping

Cupping/Myofascial Release

Myofascial release is a form of manual therapy and can be elevated with the use of cupping tools. Cupping allows for improved blood flow and invites healing properties into the tissues.

Acupuncture Tools

Trigger Point Dry Needling

Dry needling is a wonderful option for those who are experiencing pain or myofascial restriction. Dry needling assists with bringing blood flow to an area, decreases muscle tone, decreases pain, and also invites healing properties into the tissues.

Back Massage

Manual Therapy

Manual therapy will be performed in a variety of ways to include massage, myofascial release, joint mobilizations, trigger point release, and nervous system downregulation techniques.

Electrical stimulation tools

Pelvic Floor Biofeedback

External sensors placed on the skin surrounding the pelvic floor muscles. This allows for muscle activity to be seen on a screen. This can be very helpful for someone having a hard time coordinating a pelvic floor muscle contraction or to help with pelvic floor muscle downregulation/relaxation.

Childbirth preparation

Birth preparation is very underrated. The pelvic floor muscles play such a vital role in baby's descent during labor/delivery. Birth prep will encompass addressing any aches/pains and pelvic floor concerns first, followed by education on laboring, learning how to push, biomechanics of birth, ways your birthing partner can assist, balancing the uterus and pelvis, and education on what to expect postpartum.

C-section scar and baby

C-section Scar Recovery

Regardless of whether you plan to get a c-section or not, c-section scar recovery can be challenging. C-section scars go beyond the initial pain you feel immediately post-op and for the couple weeks after. They go through several layers which means the scar tissue is deeply imbedded. This can cause a variety of issues (bladder issues, abdominal pain, pulling at scar site, sharp shooting pains at scar site, pain with intimacy) even years post c-section.

Hands palpating the abdomen

Diastasis Recti Recovery

Every woman will experience some degree of abdominal separation toward the end of their pregnancy to make room for their growing baby/babies, but if you aren't able to properly engage your core with activities, this can put excess strain on your abdominal structure. Excessive strain can lead to higher risk of hernia, prolapse, back pain, and urinary/bowel issues. It is never too late after giving birth to get assessed, but ideally you are able to get ahead of it during pregnancy.
